Latest news
- Jun 17:
As Pocket Casts moves to support “podroll”, creator-led podcast recommendations, joining podcast hosting companies like Buzzsprout, Blubrry, Transistor and RSS
.com, we thought we’d take a look at who, so far, are the most recommended podcasts by creators. - Jun 5: Blubrry CEO Todd Cochrane celebrated his birthday yesterday. Cochrane literally wrote the book on podcasting in 2005 - Podcasting: The Do-It-Yourself Guide, in which he appears using a fancy microphone and a Sony Vaio, and shows how to find podcasts on Podcast Alley - where his show was #5 in the world. Happy Birthday, Todd!
- May 12: The next version of Pocket Casts, currently in release candidate, has new podcast recommendations - including support for the
podcast:podroll
format. Marked as “Recommended shows by the creator”, it means creator recommendations go to the top of a new section marked “Similar shows”. “Podroll” is supported by hosts including Buzzsprout, RSS.com, Blubrry, and Transistor. - Apr 16: Independent podcast app Pocket Casts now, it seems, supports the
podcast:funding
feature in the new podcast namespace. It allows podcasters to link directly to pages that will help them earn money. The feature is supported by a large variety of podcast hosting companies, including Buzzsprout, Blubrry, Captivate, RSS.com, Transistor and many others. (Podnews podcast pages also support it). (Thank you, Devon!) - Apr 8: There are a lot of pieces of bad podcast advice out there. In a rerun, Mike Dell and Mackenzie Bennett from Blubrry share ten pieces of - in their opinion - bad podcast advice.
